The normal route is to fly to Split and take the car ferry to Stari Grad, which goes seven times a day from late June through August, six times a day in May, June and September and four times a day at other times.
There is a catamaran service on weekdays which leaves Split at 13.00 (returning 14.45), taking 1 hour.
The ferry terminal is about 800 m from Nine Olives. We will arrange a taxi to collect you.

There are also catamaran services from Dubrovnik, Split and Split Airport (Resnik Dock) to Hvar Town, which is about 25 minutes from the house by taxi.
The quickest way to get to the house is by taxi boat from Resnik. There is more information about that elsewhere on this website.
There are flights from many European cities to Split. The airport there has recently been rebuilt.
From the UK, EasyJet has several flights a day from Gatwick, plus services from Luton, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow.
BA has several flights at day from Heathrow. There are other options.
An airport bus goes direct to the ferry, taking 30 minutes. The ticket costs about 7 euros.
A taxi from the airport to the ferry costs about €40. UBER works well in Split (not on the island). They pick up at a bus stop on the road that passes the front of the airport.
If you would like to have a car during your stay, which is not necessary but gives extra flexibility, it is best to hire from Split airport. The ferries to Stari Grad take cars.
Split itself is very interesting and pleasant to visit. The old town was originally built as the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian and is a World Heritage site. There are left luggage places at the ferry terminal where you can deposit your bags if you have some time to wait for the ferry. It is easy to walk from there to the old town if there is time to wait before the ferry sails.
There are many choices of place to stay in Split.
Heritage Hotel Santa Lucia: On the main square at the centre of the old town. They have parking spaces outside the old town and an excellent rooftop terrace where you can have drinks.
Art Hotel. About a 10minute walk to the edge of the old town. They have a nice rooftop pool and big sunbathing terrace. Onsite free car parking.
Radisson Blu. Quite distant from the Old Town, but has a beach club, nice views and excellent indoor and outdoor pools.
Flying to Dubrovnik is also an option, especially if you hire a car there (or go from Split to Dubrovnik or vice versa). There is a ferry from north of Dubrovnik to Sućuraj, on the east end of Hvar.
This is the quickest way to get to Nine Olives, taking about an hour door to door.
Split Airport is by the sea and there is a dock a short distance from it.
Dalmatia Express can take you directly from there to Stari Grad (and back).
They have a choice of three boats.
1. A big boat with a cabin, indoor/outdoor boat deck, toilet facilities, shock absorber seats. It is the best boat in the area. 880 euros one way for the boat (2024).
2. Big 12 meters boat with cabin. 750 euros one way for the boat.
3. Smaller 9 meters open boat with biggest outboard Yamaha engine. 460 euros one way for the boat.
They will arrange transport from the airport to the dock (a 2 minute journey). There is a supplement of 30 euros if more than 8 passengers (for 2 vans).
Their boats have radar and can do night rides.
They will wait if the plane is delayed without additional charge.
